What I’m Into – December 2012

Books

Gosh, what have I been reading?  It’s all kind of a blur with Christmas.
Let’s see.  I read a slightly cheesy Christian fiction novel, The Trouble with Cowboys.
And then I skim-read Coming Home, a finale book for the Baxter Family, by Karen Kingsbury.  I can’t stand her writing anymore, but I love her characters, so I just skimmed for the main points.  And OMG!  What is with people and killing off characters???   I’m seriously fed up with so many imaginative worlds right now.

I read through a lot of WinterSong for advent, and it was chock full of beauty.  I want to buy it for next year.  Also,we  read The Story of Holly and Ivy by Rumer Godden.  She is an incredible writer.  What a beautiful story.  If you’ve never read The Diddakoi by Godden, run and get it now!

I’m halfway through Selling Water by the River.  I got this for Christmas.  It’s really good.  The best thing about reading books by pastors is that you can read the whole book in their voice.

I also got Cry Like A Bell, which I haven’t started yet, but it looks really good.

I just started The Crowd, The Critic, and The Muse, and I can see why everyone is raving about it.

Sufjan Stevens – Seven Swans

Iron and Wine – Around the Well
